On former sugarcane land in North Kohala, we are planting the seeds of a new food future in collaboration with renowned Chef Peter Merriman. This site will become a Functional Forest, where we bridge the gap between ecological restoration and traditional Polynesian food systems. By growing native canopy trees alongside canoe crops like ‘ulu (breadfruit) and niu (coconut) brought by Polynesian navigators, we are creating a landscape that revitalizes the earth while feeding the community.
