Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi, (June 18, 2025) — Terraformation, a global leader in native and biodiverse forest restoration, has been named a 2025 Keeling Curve Prize winner in the Finance category, recognized for its innovative approach to unlocking climate finance in support of large-scale carbon removal and ecosystem restoration.
Awarded annually by the Global Warming Mitigation Project (GWMP), the Keeling Curve Prize honors ten of the world’s most impactful climate solutions across five categories: Carbon Sinks, Energy, Finance, Social & Cultural Pathways, and Transport & Mobility. Terraformation is one of two winners in the Finance category this year, which celebrates initiatives developing financial tools and strategies to drive climate action.
According to the GWMP, Terraformation was selected for its finance model designed “to make biodiverse forest projects profitable for global investors and vulnerable communities in tropical forest hotspots across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.” The organization was also commended for “channeling carbon finance to overlooked communities that have traditional knowledge and will to foster sustainable regeneration of degraded forests.”
“This prize affirms what we’ve known all along: nature is not just worth saving, it’s worth funding,” said Yishan Wong, the founder and CEO of Terraformation. “Forests are more than biodiversity hotspots, they are critical climate infrastructure. The future of carbon removal lies in ecosystems, communities, and the capital to unite them.”
Named after the iconic Keeling Curve, the Keeling Curve Prize supports solutions that are measurably reducing or reversing greenhouse gas emissions. Each year, projects from more than 100 countries apply. Ten winners are chosen through a rigorous expert-led review process, and each receives $50,000 to scale their work and accelerate impact.
