BELEM, Brazil (November 18, 2025) — Terraformation, a global leader in native and biodiverse forest restoration, has received an official Letter of Endorsement from Ghana’s Carbon Markets Office (CMO) of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), following a Letter of No Objection from Ghana’s Forestry Commission, marking a key step toward formal registration and implementation of large-scale reforestation projects under Ghana’s national carbon framework.

The endorsement from the two key regulatory bodies within the sector represents official recognition of Terraformation’s project concept and its alignment with national climate and forestry policies. It signals Ghana’s confidence in Terraformation’s approach to high-quality, nature-based carbon removal that supports both people and ecosystems.

“This endorsement reflects Ghana’s commitment to building a credible, transparent, and high-integrity carbon market,” said Dr. Hugh Brown, Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission of Ghana. “We welcome partners like Terraformation who share our vision to restore native forests, create sustainable livelihoods, and contribute to our national emissions targets through science-driven, community-led action.”

The endorsement enables Terraformation to proceed with detailed documentation, validation, and registration steps under Ghana’s national carbon market process—part of the country’s strategy to attract private investment in climate-positive development while safeguarding ecological integrity.

“Ghana is proving what climate leadership looks like: aligning science with nature and policy with people,” said Yishan Wong, Founder and CEO of Terraformation. “This is how we restore the planet—one forest at a time.”

Through this collaboration, Terraformation aims to help demonstrate how tropical reforestation can operate as both a carbon sink and a catalyst for community prosperity—delivering measurable climate benefits while strengthening biodiversity, food security, and economic resilience across West Africa.

About the Keta Blue Project

Located in Ghana’s Volta Region, the Keta Lagoon Blue Carbon Project is restoring up to 6,000 hectares of degraded mangrove wetlands within the Ramsar-designated Keta Lagoon complex. The project will plant 12 million native mangrove trees, removing an estimated 2.3 million tCO₂e over 40 years while protecting endangered species and strengthening coastal resilience against erosion and storms.

Developed in partnership with Regenerative Development of Anlo Wetlands Ltd. (ReDAW) and Agrointroductions, the initiative creates local jobs, supports small-scale aquaculture and beekeeping, and reinvests carbon revenues into community development through a dedicated trust fund. Keta Blue is validated under the Verra VM0033 methodology and stands as a model for high-integrity, nature-based climate solutions that unite carbon, biodiversity, and livelihoods.
