Terraformation is a native forest restoration company on a mission to rapidly scale up a nature-based climate solution which offers the potential to store over 30% of the world’s excess carbon. Its forward-thinking business model engages local communities as key stewards and stakeholders, and provides the training and technology needed to create high-quality, biodiverse forestry projects.
“We are honored to be recognized by TIME ,” said Yishan Wong, the founder and CEO of Terraformation. “It’s incredible to be included on such a well-researched and vetted list of qualifying companies, all with impressive contributions toward using technology to save and improve our planet. Thanks so much to my team at Terraformation for the work that got us here.”
Terraformation sources reforestation projects through its Seed to Carbon Forest Accelerator and provides software tools, carbon market expertise, and access to capital. Using its proprietary Terraware software, Terraformation tracks the progress of each project from the nursery stage to full canopy development. This ensures transparency and allows for continuous monitoring and reporting on impact. Terraware is an open source software made available to forest developers anywhere in the world.
The recognition for Terraformation from Statistia and TIME resulted from a process that looked at companies across the green technology space, measuring the impact they are making on the world as well as their underlying business strengths. Statista gathered and scrutinized data from over 4,300 companies, and awarded the top 250 based on three evaluation criteria:
In support of the research, Statista gathered data from company applications, annual reports, media monitoring, and other public sources. Additionally, Statista worked with specialized data partners HolonIQ and LexisNexis® Intellectual Property Solutions to further strengthen the data quality.
